The Warhammer is my favorite mech out there. It's been modified to my liking.
Though I'm a little more partial to the Battlemaster. Out of the "forbidden" mechs (re, the ones the assholes at Harmony Gold forced out of print), the favorites were the Warhammer, the Battlemaster, and the Crusader.
I pissed off some Robotech fans for blatantly telling them that. Then again, these people were also pissed off at me when I was cheerful at news of Carl Macek's death.
YOU SON OF A BInah it's all good. I'd do the same thing too if it meant getting my hands on a Warhammer miniature.
And keep up the good trolling. Show them what for!
On a side note, I'm still pissed at what those assholes at WizKids did to Battletech by letting Michael Stackpole trying to turn it into "Star Wars" (which tells me that his returning to Battletech after working for LucasArts all those years was bad).
I didn't like how they wrapped things up with the FedCom Civil War, then suddenly...the new "Dark Age" comes out with this horrifyingly dumbed down "click base" system (and it didn't help that WizKids basically told the old school fans to fuck off and that they weren't needed anymore) and an even crappier storyline that apparently jumped seventy years into the future. It wasn't until after some initial outcry from the fans that WizKids decided to put out "Classic Battletech" and did (reluctantly it seems) allow some of the "old school" writers provide some background and history.
When WizKids discontinued Dark Age/Age of Destruction/Whatever you wanna' call it, and Catalyst (made up of a lot of the "old school" Battletech writers) and started putting out sourcebooks and material for the Jihad...it almost felt like they were saying "Okay, we're turning back the clock to the Jihad era to explain how all this crap happened". Sadly, they can't just say the Republic and Dark Age didn't happen, but at least they're filling everyone in on what happened.
As for the whole Republic thing...again, I felt it was Stackpole ripping off Star Wars (Knights of the Republic, run by THE Senate, headed by the Emp...oh wait, he was called the Exarch). Even the whole Republic falling apart and rebellion happening...really predictable and boring. The only thing that made it interesting is that the writers who did write those Dark Age novels decided that, while they were stuck with Stackpole's initial rip off of Star Wars, it was okay to knock that whole concept on its ear ("Let's assassinate Victor...who even at 100+ years still needed a TEAM of assassins to take him out", "Let's link his death to a conspiracy started by a secret cabal within the Senate", and then "Instead of the Emp...er...Exarch going power mad and taking over, we'll have the SENATE be the bad guys and pull all sorts of shit"). I have to admit, it was a fun way of screwing up Stackpoles "Star Wars" clone idea.
Then I picked up two sourcebooks. "Jihad: Final Reckoning" and "The Wars of Reaving"...
Oh hell yeah...I love me some conspiracies...and those two dealt it to me in spades, especially "Final Reckoning".
Oh...and speaking of trolling, I thought about really pissing off some Robotech fans on FFN by posting a Battletech/Robotech fic called "Heresy of Shadows"...but I'm too busy with original stuff and other projects.
